Description

What is the General Wellness and Energy Screen?
The biomarkers included in this test are essential indicators of overall health and well-being. The liver function test measures enzymes and proteins produced by the liver to ensure it is functioning properly. The thyroid function test measures hormone levels produced by the thyroid gland to ensure that it’s functioning normally. The kidney function test measures waste products in the blood to assess kidney function. Cholesterol levels indicate the amount of cholesterol in the blood, and healthy levels are important for heart health. Magnesium, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D levels are important for maintaining energy levels, immune system function, and strong bones.

Who should take this test?
This test is useful for anyone looking to get a comprehensive overview of their overall health and wellness. It is particularly recommended for people who have a family history of heart disease, liver or kidney problems, or those who have been experiencing symptoms such as fatigue or lethargy. Anyone taking supplements may also find this useful, particularly to ensure they aren’t taking too much Magnesium.
Is there anything I need to know before taking this test?
For cholesterol tests (which is included in the General Energy and Wellness Screen), it is recommended to fast for 8 hours prior to the test to ensure accurate results. Continue to drink plain, unflavoured, water. Before taking this test, speak to a doctor if you are taking any medication or have any medical problems.
You must be at least 18 years old to use our testing services.
How often should I take this test?
It is recommended to repeat this test annually to monitor changes in your health and wellness. Having knowledge of your health through regular blood tests can help individuals make informed decisions about your lifestyle and health, and provide early detection and treatment of any potential health problems.
What could results out of range (abnormal) mean?
Abnormal results on these tests can indicate various health problems such as liver disease, thyroid disorders, kidney disease, heart disease, or a deficiency in Vitamin B12 or Vitamin D. These results should be discussed with a doctor who can further evaluate and diagnose the issue and provide appropriate treatment. Raised Magnesium levels may indicate over-supplementation.
What could results in range (normal) mean?
Normal results on these tests indicate that the liver, thyroid, kidney, and heart are functioning properly and that Magnesium, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D levels are within the normal range. This can be motivational for individuals to fine-tune their lifestyle choices to maintain their health. However it is important to note that good results do not guarantee the absence of disease or health problems and it is always advisable to discuss any symptoms or concerns with a doctor.
How can I improve my results?
Improving general health can be achieved through lifestyle changes such as maintaining a healthy diet, regular exercise, avoiding smoking, and limiting alcohol consumption.
What other tests could I consider?
You may also find the HbA1c test, which checks for diabetes, useful.
